On Saturday, November 24, our firefighters took advantage of some warmer weather after the historically cold Thanksgiving to practice some vehicle rescue techniques. The group established a tension buttress system to stabilize a station wagon on its side. On Wednesday June 22, Firefighter A. McIntyre, FF/EMT A. Marchetti and FF/Medic J. Ulrich visited Girl Scouts to help them accomplish their first aid badges. The crew taught the girls about first aid training as well as showing off the firetruck and ambulance.  Everyone had a lot of fun all while learning lifesaving skills. 

On Friday, June 1st West End Fire Company No. 3 EMS and Valley Forge Volunteer Fire Co. were invited to attend the Schuylkill Elementary Annual School Fair. Crews were there to answer questions about public safety, as well as showing youngsters the fire truck and ambulance. Thank you to Schuylkill Elementary for inviting us we had a great time!

Over the next few weeks, our members will be taking the annual PA Department of Health required "Hazardous Materials Operations Refresher" class. Tonight, we began the in-house class, taught by Bucks County Community College. It is a very beneficial and necessary class for Fire and EMS personnel. At 5:39am, the first alarm assignment was dispatched for the report of a house on fire in the 1300 block of East Evergreen Drive in Schuylkill Township. An Initial call to Chester County 911 services at 11:15 am today, reported a patient that was trimming trees and contacted a high voltage line in the 900 block of Township Line Road, East Pikeland Township. Forcible entry is necessary when firefighters must gain access to a building through a locked door. This is one of the basic duties of fire service members. We are pleased to announce that our very own Engine 68-1 took home 1st Place on Saturday for the "Best Appearing/Equipped Rescue Engine" in the Shartlesville Annual Lights & Sirens Parade. This engine is specially equipped with underbody train horns, which has become quite a favorite in parades over the years. This past Saturday, we held our second annual member's picnic at the grove.  Thank you to all that came out to support us, we had a very positive turnout this year!  It was great to have everyone again!  We appreciate every single one of you and your generous contributions to our firehouse!  We are looking forward to seeing many of you at our annual Chicken Barbecue on August 26th at our substation located on West Pothouse Road.

Shortly before 3pm today, Valley Forge volunteers were alerted of a smoke investigation/possible house fire on the 600th block of Bair Road in the Berwyn section of Tredyffrin Township. Quickly making the response, Engines 68-1 & 68-5 were notified of the "working fire dispatch" with heavy fire on the second floor. MONDAY 08:56am - Crews started off their day by responding to a reported tractor fire at the Pickering Valley Golf Course on South Whitehorse Road. Upon arrival, Assistant 68 established command and notified the county of a "fully involved tractor". The fire was placed under control in roughly 15 minutes. No injuries were reported.

Around 9am this morning, the first alarm assignment was dispatched for a multi-occupancy dwelling fire in the 500 block of Valley Forge Rd, Schuylkill Township. Responding crews were notified that the fire was reported on the 3rd floor and that some occupants may be trapped.
