Fire Safety Training at Local Housing Facility
by 1st Lieutenant Erik Muhlenhaupt
January 29, 2013

Schuylkill Twp, Pa. - On Tuesday, January 29th, three Valley Forge firefighters headed over to Liberty House, a local mental-health housing facility, to discuss fire safety with the staff members. Due to the high occupancy of Liberty House, it is important to constantly review and practice fire safety procedures and fire drills. In a tabletop discussion, firefighters reviewed current practices with the staff members, as well as provided instruction on basic fire behavior, evacuation techniques, and fire extinguishers. The training was well-received, and staff members enjoyed the opportunity to ask questions they had about issues that may arise. The day was capped off with a fire extinguisher demonstration outside during which staff members got the chance to practice proper fire extinguisher techniques.
