Car Crashes into Mail Truck, Both Drivers Injured by Julius Marosfalvi Jr, Rescue Captain
SCHUYLKILL TWP, PA - On Wednesday May 18, 2011 at approximately 11:31 AM, Valley Forge Volunteer Fire company responded to a two vehicle accident reported with injuries on Ferry Lane between Powderhorn Drive and Route 23. Deputy Chief 68 was the first responder on the scene, confirmed the two vehicle crash and advised incoming units of possible injuries to the drivers of both vehicles.
MICU 67-5 from West End Fire and Ambulance arrived on the scene, requested an additional ambulance and began treating the patients. Rescue 68 arrived seconds later and began the process of stabilizing both vehicles while a Firefighter/Paramedic from the Rescue assisted with patient care. Moments later Engine 68-1 arrived with additional firefighters followed by the second ambulance, MICU67-1. Firefighters assisted the MICUs with securing the patients on the stretchers carefully carried them to ambulances. One patient was transported to Phoenixville Hospital while the other was sent to Paoli Medical Hospital.
Station 68 Fire Police closed Ferry Lane and remained on the scene while the township police department conducted their investigation. The disabled vehicles were removed and the road was reopened at approximately 12:30 PM.
