Hydraulic Fluid Spill on Pawlings Rd
by Julius Marosfalvi Jr, Rescue Captain 68

On Thursday May 12, 2011, Valley Forge Volunteer Fire Company responded to a fuel spill on Pawlings Rd in the area of Ferry Lane, Schuylkill Township. Chief 68 was the first to arrive on the scene and found a trash truck with its hydraulic lines torn from the roof, apparently from striking the top of the bridge.  The Chief quickly determined that the spill extended from the train bridge all the way to Ferry lane and request units bring additional bags of oil absorbing material. Rescue 68 and Engine 68-1arrived on the scene and firefighters and began to spread over 20 bags of oil dry along more than 200 feet of Pawlings Rd.

Station 68 Fire Police directed one lane of traffic past the scene for over 2 hours until the roadway was cleaned up and the disabled trash truck was removed.
