68 Assists Lower Providence at House Fire
From Staff Writer Evan Taylor
Thursday, January 13, 2011

AUDUBON PA.,  Shortly after returning from a reported building fire in Phoenixville, Valley Forge Crews were dispatched to assist Lower Providence Fire Department (LPFD) in the Audubon section of Montgomery County. Engine 68-2 responded moments after dispatched, with a crew of six volunteers and arrived only minutes later.  First in crews from LPFD encountered heavy fire conditions in the front of the stone rancher, with fire extending into the attic space above. Command was established by the first arriving chief and he requested additional resources from Jefferson, Oaks and Valley Forge Fire Companies.  Crews worked inside the dwelling with difficulty due to large amounts of clutter.  However, the crews gained the upper hand in the blaze and brought it under control in just over 40 minutes. Valley Forge Crews assisted on-scene for approximately two hours before returning to station.
