Harley Raffle and 5th Annual Poker Run a Roaring Success
by Julius Marosfalvi Jr
September 18, 2010

SCHUYLKILL TWP, PA - About 225 riders participated in a 66-mile motorcycle ride through parts of Chester, Montgomery and Berks counties on Saturday September 18, 2010 for the Valley Forge Volunteer Fire Company's 5th Annual Poker Run. And waiting at the end of the ride was the answer to the question that's been on everyone's mind - who will win the Harley?

But long before the raffle winner was announced, bikers from all over gathered at Hooters of King of Prussia to register for the ride.  After signing in and picking up their event shirts and directions, riders went roaring off to predetermined pit stops to pull cards as part of their poker hand.

The first stop was at the Trappe Tavern on Main Street in Trappe.  From there the bikers were off to Little Oley Tavern on Farmington Avenue in Boyertown.  Then came Gear Jammers Saloon on E. Main Street in Douglassville followed by the Railroad St. Bar and Grill in Linfield.  Riders drew one card from a deck of playing cards at each stop.  And the final card completing each person's 5-card poker hand was pulled back at the Valley Forge Volunteer Fire Company picnic grove.  Once back at the firehouse, everyone enjoyed a buffet, beverages and some great music by a local classic-rock cover band, Crystal Storm.

Shortly after 5PM, the band took a break so that a number of announcements could be made… the winner of the best poker hand, 50+ door prizes and of course, winner of the 2010 Harley Raffle.

And the winner of our first ever bike raffle, a 2010 Harley Davidson Sportster 883 Iron was...

Mark Mastrangelo!

Congratulations Mark!
