2 Alarm Fire in Wayne
by Rescue Captain Julius Marosfalvi Jr
July 9, 2010

On the afternoon of Wednesday, July 7, 2010, Valley Forge Volunteer Fire Company was called for one Engine to assist Radnor Fire Company at building fire on the 300 block of W. Lancaster Ave, Wayne, PA.

There was heavy fire showing as the first units from Radnor arrived on the scene of a two story commercial building.  The incident was quickly upgraded to a second alarm as Radnor's Fire Chief requested a full company response from Berwyn.  Shortly there after, Valley Forge was dispatched for one engine to relocated to Station 2, Berwyn Fire Company to cover Berwyn's run district.  As Engine 68-2 arrived at station 2, the unit was re-assigned to proceed to the fire scene to assist with manpower.

Upon arrive, the crew from Engine 68-2 was assigned to help with the overhaul process on the roof.  Since the fire had extended through portions of the roof, crews had to use hand tools and saws to cut away strategic sections in order to locate and extinguish those hard to reach hot spots.
