Late Morning Fire Rips through Home
By Ed Eagle
May 11, 2010

Just before 11am on May 4th, 2010, Valley Forge Volunteer Fire Company was called to assist Berwyn Fire Company at a reported house fire on Sullivan Road. Berwyn's Deputy Chief 2 (Wayne Riddle) arrived moments after the dispatch and confirmed heavy smoke and fire showing from the front of the house. Berwyn's first arriving apparatus was closely followed by Valley Forge's crew of 6 volunteers on Engine 68-5.

The first arriving crew entered the house to make quick work of the fire. Valley Forge crews entered the house with a second hand-line to help finish it off. Quick work by all firefighters ensured the house would not be a total loss. EMS crews on scene also tended to a dog that had been found inside.

Units from Berwyn, Valley Forge, Radnor, Malvern, King of Prussia, Lafayette Ambulance and Paoli operated at this fire for approximately 3 hours before returning to their quarters.
