VF Assists Spring City at Mobile Home Fire
February 19, 2010
by Assistant Chief 68, Evan Taylor

On the morning of February 10, 2010, with a foot of snow on the ground and still more on the way, VFVFCo was dispatched for a Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) response assisting Liberty Fire Company of Spring City with a mobile home fire. Moments before Valley Forge was called in, just after 7:30 in the morning, Liberty Fire Company and Kimberton Fire Company were dispatched for a possible mobile home Fire on Bonnie Brae Rd. with reports of black smoke was filling the trailer from an unknown source. As Spring City crews were arrived, heavy fire could be scene from the end of the trailer and a defensive attack was made to knock the bulk of the fire down. During the process, the working fire dispatch was alerted, bringing Valley Forge for the RIT, as well as Engine and Quint 85 of Royersford.

As the fire was brought under control, the RIT assignment was terminated and Valley Forge crews were then added to the general manpower for extensive overhaul of the trailer. 68 crews were available about an hour later and braved the snowy roads back home.
