Exhaust Fan Fire Smokes Out Residents
October 21, 2009

During the morning rush on Tuesday October 20, 2009, Valley Forge Volunteer Fire Company along with Kimberton Fire Company and Phoenixville Ambulance crews were dispatched to the Valley Forge Christian College for an exhaust fan fire. Assistant Chief Taylor arrived on scene reporting the dormitory building was evacuating and the fire was reported in room 107. Upon further investigation heavy black smoke was seen venting from the door way. An additional engine was requested from Phoenixville Fire Department (65) to add additional manpower. First in crews found an exhaust fan on fire in the ceiling with material burning on the floor below. Interior crews doused the materials and began to remove the troubled fan. The remaining crews assisted with ventilation and some minor overhaul. All units were available shortly after 08:00hrs.
