VF participated at Emergency Services Day in Berwyn
By Firefighter Erik Muhlenhaupt
August 5, 2009

On Wednesday, August 5, 1009, a crew from Valley Forge Vol. Fire Co. along with Berwyn Fire Company paid a visit to the Upper Mainline YMCA in Berwyn to participate in their 7th Annual Emergency Services Day at the Upper Mainline YMCA. The day consisted of several stations featuring various public safety agencies, including several local fire companies, Chester County Hazmat 15, Penn Star 2 (Air Medical), and a local police K-9 unit. Crews from Brush 68 and Field 47 (King of Prussia) set up a "Firefighter Challenge" which involved using a 1.5'' handline to push a soccer ball about 15 feet. Fun was had by campers, counselors, and firefighters alike. Some lucky campers even got to cool down as Assistant Engineer Creaney sprayed them with the hose. As the afternoon drew to a close, the campers got a nice treat as Engine 5-5 opened up their deck gun onto the field.
