68 Assisted on Fourth Working Fire in Three Days
By Firefighter Erik Muhlenhaupt
June 25, 2009

On Sunday, June 21, 2009 at 0354 hrs, Phoenixville Fire Department along with an engine from Valley Forge and the tower from Kimberton were dispatched to a possible dwelling fire on the 200 block of High St. in Phoenixville Borough. Upon arrival, Chief 65 (Gable) asked for the working fire dispatch with heavy smoke showing on all sides from a single-story, abandoned storefront. Engine 68-1 and Rescue 68 quickly made the response. Crews from PFD made access to the building and quickly knocked down the fire. Upon arriving at the scene, Rescue 68 set up the cascade unit to fill air bottles, and crews from the Rescue and Engine 68-1 stretched a 3" leader line with two 1 3/4" attack lines to the rear of the building. With the fire knocked down, Valley Forge crews assisted with overhaul and were released from the scene around 0530 hrs.
