Brush Fire in VF Park
by Assistant Chief Evan Taylor
April 22, 2009

On the afternoon of a gorgeous Sunday, April 19th, Valley Forge and King of Prussia Fire Companies were dispatched to South Inner Line Drive in Valley Forge Park for a brush fire. Deputy Fire Chief K. Geiger arrived on location and found approximately a quarter acre of woods on fire. Valley Forge and King of Prussia crews worked diligently to control the fire. Approximately 2,000 gals of water was used to totally extinguish the fire. In addition to multiple units from King of Prussia, Valley Forge responded with Engine 68-2, Engine 68-5, Tanker 68 and Brush 68.  Montgomery county Forestry Warded 17-53 also responded to see if any forestry services were required. After his inspection, all Valley Forge and King of Prussia firefighters returned to station. Crews operated on scene for approximately 45 minutes.
