Building Fire in the Borough
by Assistant Fire Chief Evan Taylor
February 16, 2009

On the evening of  February 13th, Phoenixville, Kimberton and Valley Forge Units were alerted to a building fire on High Street in Phoenixville. Battalion 65 arrived moments after dispatch and reported heavy fire from the roof and upgraded the assignment to a working fire.

Crews entered the building from multiple areas and found the fire to be burning the roofing materials and not the interior of the building. The fire was extinguished with hand lines and an additional aerial and engine were requested for the extensive overhaul. Much of the roof was removed to ensure that the fire had not burned down into the building.

Units cleared the scene approximately 3 hours after dispatch.
