The Valley Forge Volunteer Fire Co. Auxiliary held their semi-annual pancake breakfast on Saturday November 1, 2008. Volunteers served over 200 people in the apparatus building throughout the morning. More than just pancakes were served. Delighted breakfast-goers quickly found that there was so much more than pancakes. The menu included eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage, waffles, French toast, creamed chipped beef, biscuits, juice, coffee, and an assortment of home baked goods. Children were also treated to tours of all of the fire apparatus.
At 5 a.m. the first volunteers began to show up to begin the cooking. While Gail Nattle, Michele Lukas, Evan Taylor, Paul Staley and Jason Cole tackled the mounds of sausage patties, bacon strips and of course pancakes, an army of volunteers prepared the apparatus room for hungry patrons. Floors were cleaned, tables dressed and gallons of coffee made to get ready for the 7a.m. rush of hungry early birds.
The Auxiliary would like to thank ALL the volunteers that helped with preparations, the cooking, the serving, and all those who helped with the set up and cleanup. We could not have done this event without them all.
