The Godfather Speaks Highly of our Spaghetti Dinner
by Jeff Walton
October 2, 2008

The Valley Forge Vol. Fire Co. spaghetti dinner was held on Sunday, September 28, 2008.  This event, organized by the fire company Auxiliary, was once again a huge success.   The popularity of this pasta feast has caught the eye of renowned writer, Jeff Walton who's unique writing style is quite witty and entertaining, read for yourself...

And the rest of the original script of the Godfather before the editors got to it went like this…

“I'm gonna make you an offer you can't refuse.”

“What’s the offer?”

“Do you spend time with your family?”

A nod,

“Good. Because a man that doesn't spend time with his family can never be a real man, so take your family out, for a nice dinner.”

“Where?”

“Where he says, What's-a matter with you? I think your brain is going soft.”

“A good Italian restaurant?”
“Forgetaboutit, you take them to the Valley Forge Firehouse, all you can eat spaghetti dinner.”

“A firehouse? You're a pistol, you're really funny. You're really funny.”

“What do you mean I'm funny?”

“It's funny, you know. It's a good story, it's funny, you're a funny guy, firehouse, spaghetti dinner”

“Funny how? What's funny about seven dollars and all you can eat?”

“It's just, you know. You're just funny, it's.. funny, the way you tell the story and everything.”

“What?”

“Jus”

“What?”

“Just... ya know... you're funny.”

“You mean, let me understand this cause, ya know maybe it's me, I'm funny how, I mean funny like I'm a clown, I amuse you? I make you laugh, I'm here to amuse you? What do you mean funny, funny how? How am I funny?”

“Come’ on, who goes to a firehouse for spaghetti, who, who I say?”

“Listen, everybody goes to a firehouse for dinner, take last Sunday, you know September 28, good people, lots of good people, good food, lots of good food from  spaghetti, meat balls, sausages, and the best homemade gravy, to desserts, wine, and the bread… they say bread is life you know.  They also had grated cheese, those little pads of butter, red pepper flakes, salad with your choice of dressing, you couldn’t ask for anything more and if you like pasta you must attend.”

“But at a firehouse?”

“Yes, at a firehouse, it was a good cause, volunteers galore, helping to raise money for the Valley Forge Volunteer Firehouse, working their butts off, because this is America, good people do good things, America is where I made my fortune and if you want to make it in this country you need to give back to the community.  These people put their lives on the line in time when others need them, you need to support them anyway you can…they are like family, you got that? So next time they have a family like event you better go.”

“Or I’ll be sleeping with the fishes if I don’t”

“Bada-bing and speaking of fishes, I’m telling you right now,, are you listening to me?  You take your family to Seafood Night on October 11”

“Where?”

“The firehouse.”

“You’re funny, you’re real funny.”

“Funny how?”

Fade to black…
