It Has Arrived... Our New Engine 68-5 by Assistant Fire Chief Evan Taylor July 31, 2008
Valley Forge Volunteer Fire Company is proud to announce the arrival of a Spartan/Marion Pumper-Tanker. The engine is expected to be in service and responding to calls within a few short weeks. This truck is powered by a 500hp Cummins ISM Engine with an Allison transmission.
It's features include, a dual rated 2,000 gallon per minute (GPM) two stage Waterous pump with an Advantus 6.0 foam system, a 2,500 gallon tank with an integrated 50 gallon foam tank. Also found on the apparatus is, a 10” dump chute with controls both on the rear and in the cab. 360º of site is completed with rear and side mounted Safety Vision Cameras. Both cameras can be viewed at the driver's seat or at the pump panel.
The LED scene lighting and the Will-Burt 4,000 watt light tower are powered by a 15kW Harrison hydraulic generator. Other pieces included are a Tomar emergency lighting system, Zico ladder rack and hard hose bed cover.
This truck will be replacing the Volvo/White pumper that has proudly served our community for over 25 years. While all of us at the fire house are sad to see the old one go, the new engine holds many hopes and dreams for what's to come.
