Accident with Injuries Near the Sub-Station
by Fire Captain Jason Cole
5/1/2008

On Sunday April 27, 2008, at 1528 hrs, the Valley Forge Volunteer Fire Company and West End Ambulance were dispatched to an auto accident in front of the Fire Company's sub-station on Pothouse Road.

Engine 68-5 issued a first-in report stating a 1 vehicle accident vs. a utility pole with no entrapment. The actual location was about 100 yards east of the dispatched location. Upon the arrival of the MICU (Mobile Intensive Care Unit) the 4 occupants of the vehicle were assessed and EMS personnel decided to transport the family to Phoenixville hospital for evaluation.

The vehicle left the roadway for an unknown reason and struck a mailbox, fence, and utility pole. The impact left debris and phone lines strewn across the yard.

Fire Company personnel secured the scene of the accident and began clean-up after assisting EMS. Station 68 Fire Police closed Pothouse road westbound for about 45 minutes until the accident was cleared.
