On Saturday March 1, 2008, the Auxiliary held their semi-annual pancake breakfast for a record crowd at the Valley Forge Vol. Fire Co. Volunteers served 225 people in our apparatus building throughout the morning. People quickly found that there was so much more than pancakes. The menu included eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage, pancakes, waffles, French toast, creamed chipped beef, biscuits, juice, coffee, and an assortment of baked goods.
Cooking all that food required the help of many volunteers who start preparations on Thursday and Friday night by breaking 60 dozen eggs and cooking 40 pounds of bacon as well as 3 pounds of chipped beef. At 5 A.M. Saturday morning the rush was on, in the kitchen that is, as volunteers began cooking all the food and preparing for the usual group who was waiting for us to open at 7 A.M.
Each time we have organized this event, we get help from some new people and this time we recruited some chefs from the active crew namely Evan Taylor, Jason Cole, and Paul Staley. We would like to thank ALL the volunteers that helped with preparations, the cooking, the serving, and all those who helped with the set up and cleanup. We could not have done this event without them all.
Come join us for the next breakfast on November 1, 2008. Mark your calendars and remind your family and friends.
